Our History

Check out "Our History" under the "About Us" tab. Each month we will feature a bit of Columbine's History written from our quilter's.

We start with Elayne Cottingham's account of the very first Guild Meeting-Monday, January 19th, 1987.

Mystery Quilt 2024

In the middle of Colorado,

Nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, in the city of Arvada.

Gather a group of Columbines.

These beautiful Columbines take care of their families and friends, work, travel, garden, bake, and create their art as gifts—these unique, magical Columbines quilt gifts.

One Columbine watched as her beautiful friends quilted gifts for their families. She marveled at how they all came together at the Sew-In to make Community quilt gifts and continue to heap a table full of quilts for those in need. How inspirational the red, white, and blue gifts for Quilts of Valor. How thoughtful the Fidget Quilt gifts are. The gifts of baby blankets, wedding quilts, graduation quilts, quilts for birthdays, holidays, and to say I love you.

This Columbine, humbled by all the generosity of kindness, time, and talent, decided to give each member a gift—a Mystery Quilt.

·   This quilt will finish 36X36.

·   The colors are just suggestions:-)) Feel free to change the colors; this design will still work.

·   I have received permission for each member of the Columbine Quilt Guild to use this pattern. There is no fee to play along. This quilt is just an activity for Columbine members. You will need your quilting supplies, your choice of fabric or dig into your stash.

·   All you need to do to play is send an email. Information will be in the May Newsletter.

·   June, 1st, you will get your cutting instructions.

·   For each of the next four weeks, you will get sewing instructions. (You don’t need to be home. If you are on vacation, they will still arrive in your email.)

·   We will finish putting together our quilts with a Zoom meeting at the end of July.

·   In August, during our 5X5 meeting, we will “Show and Tell” our Mystery Quilts.

Join in the mysterious fun!
