History:

The Columbine Quilt Guild was organized in January, 1987, to promote and meet the needs of quilters in the Arvada/Lakewood/Denver area. We have members all over the area from Parker to Evergreen to Longmont. The Guild is open to anyone who is interested in quilting and we have found that all of our members, from beginners to experts, share ideas and often try each other's methods. Many members' quilts have been shown locally and nationally and many have won awards.

The meetings are warm and friendly, featuring a monthly educational program and a Show and Tell guaranteed to generate enthusiasm and new ideas. A guild newsletter is published monthly which keeps members up to date. The meetings are held on the second Monday night of each month at the Arvada United Methodist Church, located at 6750 Carr Street, Arvada, Colorado, at 6:45 PM (doors open at 6:15 PM).

  Education Program:

The Columbine Quilt Guild Board decided to form the Education Committee during the fall of 2005. The purpose is to present a trunk show of sample quilts to school children and community adult events. The Guild members made a total of 18 quilts demonstrating different old patterns and a variety of techniques. The first chairman was Jan Coates. She contacted the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum and received permission from them and Sandra Dallas to use the name and story of The Quilt that Walked to Golden to be used in the presentation. Jan has made a period dress and a replica of the actual quilt that exists and is the property of Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum.

This presentation is available by contacting Brenda Breadon at (303) 986-9818. A donation will be accepted from adult groups to Columbine Quilt Guild.
