Charity
Quilts:

Traditionally
quilters have given of their craft to those in need, and at Columbine
our members gladly carry on this grand tradition. In 2006 alone, we
made and donated 79 quilts, and past recipient charities have included
organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Elder Care Connections,
the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, ABC, Hope Methodist Church
and the Salvation Army, all this has been made possible through the
generous donations of time, materials and creativity of our members.
In 2007, we hope to donate even more quilts. Anyone can help no matter
how much or how little time they may have. You can put together kits,
cut fabric, piece squares, assemble blocks, quilt, sew on bindings,
or donate fabric.
Every February, the guild's meeting is dedicated to creating quilts
for this program. Members come together working in teams cutting, assembling,
pressing and quilting, doing what we love to do and all for a good
cause (it's like our own little sweat shop...only fun).
This
year, charities slated to receive quilts include Elder Care, the Linus
Project, and the Salvation Army, plus any additional charities our quilters
may designate. If you would like to help us with this project or make
a donation contact Columbine Quilt Guild, if you can't help quilt we
can also use donations of any cotton fabric, battings, pieced squares
or quilt tops you have made but never completed. |
